Julia Montes: Rising Star

The real name of Julia Montes is Mara Montes Schnittka and she was born on March 19, 1995. At 16, her height is already 5'5 and this can be attributed to the fact that she is half-German. Her father is a German national whom she had never met since she was born and had not made any attempt to communicate with her. Her mother is deaf-mute so Julia knows how to communicate via sign language. At a young age, she is already the breadwinner in her family.
Her constant companion in her auditions and shoots is her grandmother. Like many celebrities, Julia's career started by doing commercials. She has been appearing in many TV commercials for products such as NIDO, Magnolia, Jollibee, Nestle, etc. since she was four years old.

Her very first TV roles are for GMA network shows. She played as the daughter of Robin da Rosa and Angelu de Leon in the series, "Sana ay Ikaw Na Nga." She also appeared in several episodes of the drama anthology "Magpakailanman."

Her first show in ABS-CBN is for the series, "Hiram" where she played the role of the young Anne Curtis. She also became a part of the top-rating gag show for kids, "Goin' Bulilit." She also appeared in the series, ""Katorse" and the remake of Gimik 2010. She also appeared in movies such as "Bahay Kubo," "Caregiver" and "T2."

Julia Montes got her biggest break when she was chosen to play the role of Clara Del Valle in the remake of the highly successful soap opera, "Mara Clara." The success of "Mara Clara" paved the way to a movie. She recently stars in the Star Cinema movie "Way Back Home" with Kathyrn Bernardo. Her acting prowess and stunning looks makes people see her as the next Claudine Barretto.
Julia balances work and study as she recently graduated from high school. She studied in the Blessed Hope Christian School in Pandacan, Manila. She plans to take up Tourism or Culinary Arts in college and dreams of becoming a chef or a flight stewardess.

Julia is currently under the management of ABS-CBN Star Magic. She will play the part of Tammy in the newest youth oriented show of ABS-CBN, "Growing Up".
